Whiskey Sour with a Sweet Mark

The Whiskey Sour is probably the most popular of all the sour drinks and rightfully so, it is a great cocktail.

It is sour, yes, but the sweetness of some whiskeys and simple syrup offset any tartness, especially the sweeter bourbons like Maker’s Mark. Fresh lemon juice is key for the best Whiskey sour and the choice of whiskey will create a different cocktail depending on style and brand.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz whiskey
1 1/2 oz lemon juice
3/4 oz sugar syrup
Maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:
1. Pour the bourbon, lemon juice, and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled sour glass.
4. Garnish with the cherry.

You can also switch the base liquor for a different sour experience. Common variations include a Absinthe Sour, Amaretto Sour, Apple Sour, Apricot Sour, Gin Sour, Grand Marnier Sour, Kahlua Sour, Midori Sour, Pisco Sour, Rum Sour, Scotch Sour, Tequila Sour and Vodka Sour.
