Iberwine to Bring Together Wine Sector’s Crème De La Crème in Valladolid this Month

The Iberwine Valladolid 2010 fair, slated May 25-27, aims to become a meeting ground for the wine industry in the widest sense possible, drawing together organizations, national and international buyers, distributors, wineries, the hospitality sector, sommeliers and oenologists.

During the event, Valladolid will be transformed in a bid to host a comprehensive program of parallel activities.

During the launch of Iberwine 2010, held on February 12, the move from Madrid to Valladolid was explained as being due to the huge importance currently enjoyed by Castile y Leon wines. According to a statement from Iberwine’s co-chairman, Carlos Falcó: “Castile y Leon is the region which boasts the most promising future right now owing to the fact that a major part of Spain’s most outstanding wines can be found here”. In addition, the chairmanship also highlighted the decisive collaboration of all the regional institutions which helped to organize the event.

The central themes in this edition of Iberwine Valladolid 2010 are based on sustainable production, an idea which has become increasingly important in recent years; and responsible and healthy consumption, an idea which the organization draws from and adheres to the European initiative, Wine in Moderation.

In addition to the exhibitors, the wine fair’s program includes several workshops aimed at viticulture, oenology, wine industry market strategies, wine tourism, and information technology. Along the same lines, the Wine Week initiative aims to involve the public in the spirit of the fair by organizing activities such as traditional tastings in various parts of the city.

The event’s main objective is to bring together wineries from Spain, Portugal and Latin America, with a strong focus on attracting importers and buyers from around the world.
